Kamala Harris reveals surprising comment Trump made to her in private

Former Vice President Kamala Harris recently criticized the Trump administration during a stop on her book tour.

Harris, who faced a significant defeat against Trump in the last US presidential election, is currently traveling across her home country to promote her political memoir, 107 Days, which recounts her unsuccessful attempt to become the first woman to hold the highest office in the White House.

She unexpectedly became the Democratic nominee after Joe Biden stepped back from the race, and while the election was anticipated to be extremely close, Trump ultimately secured victory by a substantial margin.

Considering Trump’s aggressive strategies against political rivals, it’s not surprising that Harris experienced some lingering effects from her brief time in the spotlight.

In promoting her autobiography, she revealed that losing to Trump felt “as painful as the death of her mother” and described the Republican leader as a “con man.”

However, in what may be her most shocking remark to date, Harris gained attention on Monday, October 6, when she harshly criticized the Trump administration, referring to them as “merfers.”

During her speech at the Day of Unreasonable Conversation summit in Los Angeles on Monday (October 6), Harris remarked: “We are currently making history, and all of you storytellers are part of it. You’re not just passive spectators; you understand that.

“You’re experiencing it, and I urge you to convey all the emotions we are feeling — share those feelings, share that experience with the individuals you are writing about and for. This ties back to my earlier point about assisting people in labeling their feelings, even if it doesn’t alter the situation.”

She continued: “There’s so much about this moment that aims to make people feel as though they’ve lost their sanity, when in reality, these merfers are the ones who are insane!”

It’s reported that the audience started cheering and clapping, which made Harris laugh.

“I refer to this as ‘The Freedom Tour,’” she mentioned once the crowd settled down.

Regarding her true emotions after losing to Trump, the Hollywood Reporter states that Harris was unable to “articulate anything” following the election defeat.

“I kept repeating, ‘My God, my God.’ I had never experienced such profound pain and sorrow except when my mother passed away, and I was mourning for the nation. I understood what was about to unfold,” she expressed.

Harris’ participation in the Day of Unreasonable Conversation summit earlier this week follows her revelation in her memoir that Trump had made a rather unexpected remark to her privately.

The alleged event took place after the second assassination attempt on Trump’s life, for which Ryan Wesley Routh was convicted on September 23. In her memoir, Harris recounted that Trump had reached out to her after the September 2024 incident and vowed to be ‘nicer’ to her.

“How can I speak ill of you now? I’m going to tone it down. I promise. You’ll see,” Trump remarked.
