4-year-old twins die after falling asleep in toy chest – now mom has grave warning

A grieving mother has issued a heartbreaking warning after her twin daughters, Kellan and Aurora, died in a tragic accident at home in 2023.

Sadie Myers shared the story on social media, explaining that she and her husband, Don Starr, had purchased a large cedar chest to store stuffed animals—never imagining it could become deadly.

One night, after being tucked into bed, the twins apparently woke up and climbed into the chest to snuggle. They removed most of the toys, laid down head-to-toe, and likely said goodnight to each other.

Tragically, the chest’s heavy lid shut while they were inside. Unbeknownst to many, these old wooden chests can be airtight and soundproof. As they slept, the twins quietly ran out of oxygen and passed away.

The next morning, one of their siblings found them. “Mommy, I found them! They’re so silly just sleeping in the toy box,” he said.

Sadie recalled, “Within seconds I knew something wasn’t right. It was already too late… If you have a chest like this, destroy it immediately.”

Don later wrote, “I was hoping this was just a nightmare. But it’s real. Please send love and strength to Sadie, our boys, and our family.”
