Trump orders the whole Mexico border wall to be painted black. The reason will shock you!

President Donald Trump has unveiled a fresh proposal to strengthen the southern border wall.

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem visited a stretch of the border wall in New Mexico on Tuesday, Aug. 19, to unveil an aesthetic improvement that the Trump administration hopes will help reduce illegal immigration.

Noem bragged about the present border wall being “difficult to climb, almost impossible,” and “very difficult, if not impossible, to dig under.” But, she claimed, Trump has a plan to make it even more secure.

“We are also going to paint it black,” Noem stated. “That is specifically at the request of the president, who understands that in the hot temperatures down here, when something is painted black, it gets even warmer, and it will make it even harder for people to climb.”

“So, we are going to be painting the entire southern border wall black to make sure that we encourage individuals to not come into our country illegally, to not break our federal laws,” she informed us, “but [to] abide and come to our country the right way so that they can stay and have the opportunity to become United States citizens and pursue the American dream.”

U.S. Border Patrol Chief Mike Banks, who attended the occasion, stated that the paint will also help prevent corrosion.

Trump has tried this identical technique before. In 2019, he requested that sections of the wall be painted black to make them appear hotter. However, when The Washington Post visited a piece of the wall in Sasabe, Ariz., in March 2022, less than 18 months after it was painted, the paint was already peeling away.

However, Noem said that the new black paint update provides the deterrence the United States requires to protect the Mexican border.

“Remember that a nation without borders is no nation at all,” she added, taking up a paint roller and painting a portion of the wall while cameras filmed.

“We’re very grateful to have a president who recognizes the importance of a secure border for our country’s future.”

The Mexican border wall was a significant priority for Trump’s first term. When he left office in 2021, he left behind millions of dollars in contracts and supplies, including free-standing wall parts that could be walked around.

In his second term, Trump’s anti-immigrant policies have focused on ICE raids and wholesale deportation. However, the “Big, Beautiful Bill” enacted by Congress in July included $46 billion for Customs and Border Protection to continue building the border wall and other obstacles, according to CBS News.

Other border enforcement initiatives by the second Trump administration include the establishment of two National Defense Areas spanning approximately 230 miles along the border in New Mexico and Texas.

These regions were established by the US military, and Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth stated in April that “any illegal attempt to enter this zone is entering a military base, a federally protected area,” and that they can be arrested by both CBP and the DOD.
