People demonstrate to support an aircraft passenger who asserted his right to sit in the seat he paid for

Boarding an aircraft is often uncomfortable, especially if you are in the late boarding zone. Someone will inevitably sit in the wrong seat, typically by accident, resulting in a comical scooting and standing routine. But what happens when someone sits in your seat deliberately? Not just anyone, but a youngster whose mother told them they could sit there.

This is what occurred to Osaac Summers while flying with American Airlines lately. After boarding his aircraft, he observed a toddler seated in his seat and continued walking, presumably presuming it wasn’t his seat. Summers is 6′ 2″ tall, which makes sitting in enclosed seats difficult, so he paid extra for an aisle seat. But because a youngster was occupying his seat, he was willing to let the child stay there until he located an empty seat.

Summers informs the child’s mother that the next time she should ask the person whose seat she is in whether they mind switching places.

“I’m like, Ma’am, I don’t want to take your and your child’s seat, but the next time, I’ll ask before taking a seat. You know, just ask because I have no issue giving you the seat if you want to sit with your family, but right now you’ve had me standing up in the middle of the plane. Everyone’s looking at me, and I’m just sitting here waiting for a seat or for you to get up, and no one’s doing anything about it,” Summers says in the video.

Instead of becoming irate, the man claims he attempted to find another seat in the aisle but was told by a flight attendant that he could not sit there. Summers explains to the flight attendant that he is tall and requires an aisle seat, which is why he chose his initial seat. But he was soon approached by a flight attendant who informed him that the lady and kid entered the plane first, meaning that their boarding order granted them authority to take the chair he had paid for. When he informed the attendant that the seats were assigned, she said he may have his seat back.

This is when things get a bit off course. After stating that he would feel awful about taking the seat, the flight attendant allegedly warned him that he would be the “bad guy” for sitting in the seat that he had paid for. Summers then informed the attendant that he wanted his paid-for seat, to which the flight attendant replied harshly, stating that the now-seatless guy may be removed from the flight.

The mother who watched the incident did not relocate her child to the appropriate seat, instead allowing her child to remain in Summers’ proper place. Another passenger eventually handed the mother their seat so she could sit with her child, but not before the woman’s sister instructed Summers to stop talking. Another flight attendant came to the furious man’s help, attempting to calm the situation before he received his seat back.

Someone shared a video of the event on social media, showing Summers replying furiously to someone who was outraged when he retrieved his seat. Another passenger relayed the tale from her perspective, which corroborated what Summers had previously said. While others on the plane were irritated that Summers wanted his seat back, individuals online were overwhelmingly supportive.

“So, you paid for the seat. They attempted to take it, but the flight attendant intervened and consoled them for their failure? “Okay,” one individual writes.

“By the flight attendant’s logic, if I get on the flight and there’s an open seat in first class, I get it because I was there first,” another person says.

“Report the flight attendants to the airline and demand an apology. “You paid for the seat; they can’t just take it,” someone else adds.

One commentator confirms: “You weren’t the evil person here. They were extremely entitled. They can’t exploit their child to be disrespectful.”

Another user comments, “Let’s be clear: when you book your ticket, you choose seats for you and your children to sit together. If not, don’t expect anyone to offer you their seat. I would have commanded her to rise like the sun and leave my seat.”
