Dennis Quaid provides an update on the deadly Texas floods.

On Fox News’ Hannity on Thursday, July 10, The Parent Trap star, 71, provided an update on his daughter Zoe, 17, who he says was a few miles away from the tragic floodwaters at Texas’ Camp Mystic. This summer, the adolescent is working as a counselor at a local camp, and her father has assured the outlet that she is safe.

“Hill County, Texas, is a beautiful area, particularly for youngsters who camp there.” It’s a cherished memory you’ll carry with you for the rest of your life,” Quaid stated during the show. “My daughter was several miles north of [Camp] Mystic. Thankfully, their camp was fine.”

Quaid, who has a daughter and her twin brother, Thomas, with his third wife, Kimberly Buffington, subsequently described the moment he learned about the flooding. The father of three stated that he “didn’t get a lot of sleep that night” while attempting to call his daughter.

“I heard about this as I was going to bed that night, and I tried to call her because I knew she was up there,” the Sovereign actor explained. “I knew it wasn’t near where the waters were, but I didn’t get to talk to her until the next day. I didn’t get very much sleep that night.

Quaid went on to express his sympathies to Kansas City Chiefs owner Clark Hunt and his family. The Hunt family lost their 9-year-old relative Janie in the floodwaters.

“My heart goes out to everybody, and my heart goes out to the Hunt family, who are friends of my wife, Laura [Savoie], and I,” Quaid remarked during the news conference. “Janie Hunt, who got lost that weekend. I can’t imagine how heartbreaking this would be. “Neither of us can.”

Following the sad loss, several celebrities and native Texans have expressed their support for the town. Jenna Bush Hager, anchor of Today with Jenna and Friends, shared her complicated emotions after sending her girls off to summer camp in the aftermath of the catastrophic floods.

The 43-year-old daughter of former President George W. Bush and First Lady Laura Bush became tearful on the Monday, July 7 broadcast of her daytime talk program as she discussed dropping her girls off at another camp in Texas. During the morning program, the mother of three talked about the emotional reality that every parent is experiencing right now.

“My kids were dropped off at another camp in Texas yesterday, and you know, putting them on the bus and saying goodbye to them, and I know so many parents whose kids are at camp or going to camp feel that way, because you know, we send our kids into the world with the hope that they will have happy, joyful lives, but as adults, we know pain. We pray that our children never face it. But, you know, Texas is a tenacious and amazing state.”
