Trump’s former advisor says he will run for office again in 2028
The thought of a “Trump 2028” presidency might seem unrealistic, but Steve Bannon, who used to be the Chief Strategist in the White House, believes it could actually happen.
Even though the 22nd Amendment of the U.S. Constitution clearly says that no one can be president for more than two terms, Bannon says that Trump and his team are looking into “many different alternatives” to get back into office, possibly for a third time.
Bannon shared his thoughts on the Apocalypse Now? podcast, where he confidently said that Trump would not only run again but would also be in the White House signing executive orders on January 20, 2029.
He reinforced his point in another interview with NewsNation, saying: “We have many different alternatives to make sure President Trump… is the President of the United States. And we will roll those out over time.”
His statements come right after unofficial “Trump 2028” merchandise started selling, with slogans like “Rewrite the Rules,” which might suggest changing or getting around the 22nd Amendment that was put in place in 1951 after Franklin D. Roosevelt served four terms.
However, legal experts point out that a third term is still not allowed by the Constitution. Law professor Danny Karon explained three possible workarounds to LADbible: Trump could run as vice president with someone like JD Vance, be appointed as vice president and then take over through succession, or try to change the Constitution itself. But each of these options has big legal and political challenges.

Regarding Trump, he hasn’t ruled out the possibility. In a 2024 TIME interview, he mentioned “loopholes that have been talked about,” but he also said, “I don’t believe in using loopholes.”
Earlier, in an NBC interview, he stated he was “not joking” about a potential third term, saying, “A lot of people want me to do it.”
Currently, Trump is concentrating on the 2024 election, but if Bannon is correct, discussions about 2028 are already happening.
