Meet Princess Diana’s nieces—including the twins who once stayed out of the spotlight & now look ‘like their auntie’

The royal’s two nieces spent their early years in another nation, and she frequently visited them. One subsequently stated that she only realized her aunt’s value when she grew older.

Princess Diana has four siblings, three of whom are still alive: Lady Sarah McCorquodale, Lady Jane Fellowes, and Charles Spencer, 9th Earl Spencer. John Spencer, their older brother, died mere hours after birth in 1960.

While the former Princess of Wales’ family has had its share of tragedy, it has also flourished over centuries. Today, her nieces are all grown up, and two of them, twins, frequently attract attention from fans who claim they bear a remarkable resemblance to their late aunt.

Princess Diana’s three nieces have all followed their different paths, from peaceful lives away from the spotlight to careers in design.

Eliza and Amelia Spencer

Lady Eliza and Amelia Spencer were born on July 10, 1992, in the United Kingdom but spent much of their childhood in South Africa. They were the twin children of Charles and his first wife, model Victoria Lockwood, and spent their childhood away from the spotlight.

In a rare joint interview, the sisters shared insights into their lives as twins. Lady Amelia said, “We’ve always been quite close. We are really similar. We enjoy doing the same activities and have the same friends. You’re always going to have a best buddy there, so you can’t really compare it to anything else.”

Lady Eliza shared a recollection from their school days at Reddam House in Constantia, when they frequently played on the same sports teams. They did most activities together, including swimming, netball, tennis, riding, and even water polo on occasion.

As they grew older, their profound bond remained, bolstered by the memories they shared and the many places they lived.

Though the siblings were not born in South America, the family moved there in 1995 to avoid the media attention associated with their surname. Two years later, their parents split. Nonetheless, both sisters have fond recollections of Althorp, the family’s ancient house, where they spent school vacations alongside their father.

“It is a truly special and beautiful place,” Eliza added. “Having spent the first three years of our lives at Althorp, exploring and discovering it as children, and being part of a long heritage of Spencers that have lived there, it has always felt like another home.”

It also reminded Eliza of their childhood Christmases spent there with their entire family. Those early recollections from Althorp were only half of the narrative. Life in South Africa gave its own unique thrill. The twins had a joyful upbringing in Constantia, a quiet and well-known neighborhood of Cape Town, where they resided with their mother.

Lady Eliza recalled their family excursions to Cederberg, when life was simple and peaceful. “We used to go away to Cederberg on camping trips, where there would be no electricity,” she told me. “We were always in nature, on farms — we couldn’t have done that if we weren’t here.”

Lady Amelia attended Prince Harry’s royal wedding in 2018, together with her mother, older sister, and younger brother, Louis, Viscount Althorp. While their attendance at royal weddings marked a transition into public life, they have always held personal connections and memories dear.

While Lady Eliza and Amelia no longer visit Althorp on a regular basis, their brother Louis remains deeply attached to the estate. “He spent lockdown there and has embraced all of English traditions,” Lady Amelia explained.

Many of the long-time employees at Althorp had worked there when Princess Diana was a kid and frequently told the twins stories about their aunt. Lady Eliza said;

We always just knew her as our aunt. Growing up in South Africa, I really had very little idea of how significant she was in the world until I was much older.”

She also remembered that the princess had paid them a few visits. The princess had stayed with them at their father’s residence in Cape Town shortly before her death. “We were very fortunate to have spent that time with her,” Lady Eliza continued.

Moments spent with Princess Diana have stuck with the sisters, subtly molding how they remember her now. Years later, the sisters would become well-known for reasons apart from their royal heritage.

When they appeared in sleek black gowns evocative of their famous aunt’s legendary “revenge dress,” headlines were quick to follow. Fans couldn’t help but notice the resemblance and made comparisons. Online, others expressed their admiration. One posted, “Wow, they are beautiful like their aunt [sic].”

Others mirrored this opinion. One individual exclaimed, “They are all beautiful ladies!” Another person said, “They look gorgeous.” A third said, “Beauties like their aunt.”

Another person said, “Very stunning, definitely see the Princess Diana resemblance; it’s all beautiful.” A third said, “Gorgeous, like their auntie [sic].” One more said, “As beautiful as Lady Di.”

Aside from their public appearances and rising fame, Lady Eliza and Lady Amelia, 32, have developed significant lives outside of the spotlight. Lady Amelia married Greg Mallett at the Quoin Rock Wine Estate in Stellenbosch, South Africa.

Meanwhile, Lady Eliza and Channing Millerd have been in a long-term relationship for nine years. “Marriage is definitely something we’ve talked about,” she stated in a joint interview.

Greg and Channing, who were schoolmates, have similar beliefs and interests. Greg previously stated that their friendship developed via athletics and a shared philosophy on life; thus, introducing Lady Eliza to Channing was natural.

He felt they were a good fit from the start and was pleased to watch their relationship grow over time. Today, the four of them reside in London, where the twins’ modeling careers are thriving.

Lady Kitty Spencer

Lady Kitty Spencer is the first child of Charles Spencer, 9th Earl Spencer, and Victoria Lockwood. She was born on December 28, 1990, two years ahead of her twin sisters, Eliza and Amelia.

Even though the epidemic separated Kitty and the twins for a year, their friendship remained strong. “Kitty is always so supportive of us,” Lady Eliza once noted in an interview. “We’re in a WhatsApp group exclusively for females, as well as a family one. She’s always available to provide us advice and encouragement.”

Lady Kitty’s function as a guiding force in her younger sisters’ lives is just one aspect of her existence; her path has also led her to start her family. On July 24, 2021, she married Michael Lewis, a British businessman born in South Africa.

They have a daughter named Athena. On April 29, 2025, Kitty paid tribute to her young baby in a poignant Instagram post, calling her “sunshine, joy, and all things magic.” She referred to Athena as her “little girl forever” and expressed her pride in being her mother, saying her love for her daughter was beyond words.

While Lady Kitty’s passion for family is evident in her personal life, she has also made a name for herself in the fashion industry. Along with parenthood, she has become a popular model, attracting attention from prominent designers such as Dior, Alberta Ferretti, and Bottega Veneta.

Her distinctive features rapidly established her as an industry favorite. She gradually embraced Dolce & Gabbana’s striking elegance, eventually becoming one of the brand’s most well-known advocates. Her affinity to the business got even more personal in 2022, when she married Michael in five handcrafted Alta Moda dresses at a lavish wedding in Rome.

Lady Eliza, Lady Amelia, and Lady Kitty have all pursued their own careers while remaining true to their family heritage. Their affection for Princess Diana remains deep, as evidenced by personal recollections and public appreciation.

From beginnings in South Africa to entering worldwide fashion circles, the sisters continue to draw notice for their elegance and flair. Their strong kinship, passion for family, and public presence ensure that Princess Diana’s legacy lives on. As they develop, they are appreciated not only for who they are but also for the lady they so closely resemble.
