Michael Che Publicly Apologizes to Scarlett Johansson on SNL — But Then It Took a Wild Turn…

During the Season 50 finale of *Saturday Night Live*, Michael Che playfully “apologized” to Scarlett Johansson during the show’s infamous “Weekend Update” joke swap.

The recurring segment features co-hosts Che and Colin Jost reading jokes written by each other—without previewing them first.

This time, Johansson, who hosted the episode and is also Jost’s wife, joined them on stage. Che, reading from a script allegedly written by Jost, said he wanted to apologize to someone he had hurt.

He then introduced Johansson, referencing the time he made Jost read a crude joke about her in a previous joke swap.

“I was just lashing out because I’m jealous,” Che read. “I’ve never even seen a human vagina. And notice I said human, because I once spent the summer on a farm.”

He added that Jost had changed his life by discovering him, joking, “I’ve told thousands of jokes and gotten dozens of laughs, but I’ve never said the three most important words: I love you.”

The joke exchange didn’t end there. Che made Jost read a line calling for longtime *SNL* producer Lorne Michaels to retire and let Che run the show.

Jost also had to deliver several racially charged jokes, including one aimed at Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl performance.

Johansson, who appeared surprised during the previous joke swap, had later joked on the *Today* show that Che seemed to have a personal vendetta against her and Jost, asking, “Michael, why? What did I do to you?”
