Kirk Douglas, a Hollywood star, dies at age 103.

Kirk Douglas, an actor with a seven-decade career in Hollywood, died at the age of 103.

The stage and movie actor was well-known for a variety of roles, including his portrayal as Spartacus in the 1960 film.

Born in New York in 1916, he rose to notoriety during Hollywood’s “golden age,” receiving his first Academy Award nomination for the 1949 film Champion.

He was also the father of Michael Douglas, an Oscar-winning actor.

In a statement, his son Michael remarked, “It is with tremendous sadness that my brothers and I announce that Kirk Douglas has left us today.”

“To the world, he was a legend, an actor from the golden age of movies… but to me and my brothers Joel and Peter he was simply Dad,” a portion of it said.

“Let me close with the words I told him on his last birthday, which will always be true. Dad, I love you so much and am so proud to be your son.

Welsh actress Catherine Zeta Jones, Michael’s wife and Kirk’s daughter-in-law, shared a photo of the two together with the caption, “I shall adore you for the rest of my life. “I already miss you.”
