The dance team known as the Tiger Girls from Louisiana State University has captured the internet’s heart with their championship-winning rendition of Michael Jackson’s “Smooth Criminal” at the prestigious “Super Bowl of Dance.”
Once again, the LSU Dance Team has made history by securing their fourth title at the Universal Dance Association Hip Hop Competition with an unforgettable performance at the “Super Bowl of Dance.”
During the 2024 event in Orlando, Florida, the Tiger Girls wowed the audience with a stunning tribute to Michael Jackson, skillfully merging classic dance moves with innovative, contemporary interpretations of the late legend’s iconic choreography.
Clad in white satin suits, sparkling ties, Nike sneakers, and classic fedoras, the Tiger Girls looked as if they had just stepped out of a Michael Jackson music video. Their fashionable outfits were the perfect complement to their tribute to the King of Pop as they executed a flawless performance of the legendary “Smooth Criminal.”
The hit song, which came out in 1988 as part of Jackson’s “Bad” album, is well-known not only for its infectious rhythms but also for the demanding dance routines showcased in the music video.
In an interview with Southern Living, head coach Kandace Hale expressed her enthusiasm when the team’s choreographers, Carsen Lowe and Sammy McFadden, suggested using the Jackson track: “It’s a classic,” she remarked, noting that the “team is obsessed with Michael Jackson.”
