Stories of families opposing “the man” have been told before, but an Australian family seems to be taking things a step further after turning down every offer for their land.
The family in question is said to have turned down developers on multiple occasions, after which they proceeded to construct a complete suburb on all of the land that bordered the property in question.
Unfazed, the proprietors of the estate modeled after Windsor Castle assert that they cannot place a value on their unique residence. The Australian property is reportedly surrounded by lush green gardens and has a 650-foot driveway. A panoramic picture of the Blue Mountains is also available.
It is reported that developers have made multiple high-ball offers since they are so eager to buy the land where the property is located.
And the family continues to refuse…
Reports state that the majority of the adjacent land lots were sold in 2012, when the subject property would have been valued at approximately $4.75 million.
But ten years later, experts are speculating that the house may be worth an astounding $50 million!
Ray White Quakers Hill real estate agent Taylor Bredin said to 7News, “These guys have held on, even though most people sold out years and years ago.” They deserve all the praise.
“You could push 40 to 50 properties on something like this, depending on how far you push the development plan, and when subdivided, a 300 square meter block would get a million dollars.”
As of right now, the land is surrounded on all sides by nearby houses that are constructed up to the fence. The local family, on the other hand, claims they enjoy living in a cul-de-sac and has no intention of selling.
According to 50-year-old mother Diane Zammit, Daily Mail Australia, the area was formerly “farmland dotted with little red brick homes and cottages.”
There was ample space and individuality in every home, but that is no longer the case. It’s simply different,” she remarked.
Whoa! To decline the offer of $50 million certainly requires a tremendous amount of willpower! How do you feel about the choice made by this family? Please share your opinions in the comments section.
