Donald Trump cuts speech short amid medical emergency
President Donald Trump had to abruptly end his speech at a White House press conference because of a medical emergency.
At that moment, Trump was officially swearing in TV personality, Dr. Memhet Oz, who is set to take on the role of administrator for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) throughout Trump’s presidency.
According to the Irish Star, the reason Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt cut the briefing short and instructed reporters to leave the room was that a girl fainted during the ceremony.
“Press out,” Leavitt was heard saying.

Noticing that something serious was happening, President Trump abruptly ended his speech and stepped away from the podium to provide assistance. “I hope she’s alright,” he was overheard saying.
Dr. Oz was seen quickly leaving the camera’s view to lend a hand.
Footage captured the young girl being swiftly escorted out of the room.
The White House later confirmed that a “minor family member” had fainted during the ceremony,
reassuring everyone that she was now doing well. The statement read, “A minor family member fainted during Dr. Oz’s swearing-in ceremony in the Oval Office. We are pleased to report that she is OK.”

When Trump presented Dr. Oz, he remarked that he has “arrived at this role as one of the country’s most skilled and cherished medical experts.”
The president subsequently listed Dr. Oz’s credentials, mentioning that he graduated from Harvard University. He earned a Doctor of Medicine and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and Penn’s Wharton School, respectively.
Dr. Oz then served as a heart surgeon and a professor of cardiac surgery at Columbia University, in addition to being the Director of the Cardiovascular Institute and the integrative medicine program at New York Presbyterian Hospital.
He launched his health and wellness talk show, The Dr. Oz Show, in 2009, which concluded in 2022.

Throughout the years his show aired, it faced criticism due to some of the contentious medical advice Dr. Oz offered to viewers.
Among other things, his claim that green coffee extract is a ‘miraculous weight loss solution’ was denounced by the Federal Trade Commission.
Earlier this month, Dr. Oz’s appointment to CMS was approved with a Senate vote of 53-45.
