A blind Got Talent contestant walked onto the stage, his guide dog steady at his side like a guardian angel. Then came the first notes of a John Legend ballad—and as he opened his mouth to sing, the world seemed to stand still
Get a Kleenex for this one. Matt McLaren, a competitor on ‘Australia’s Got Talent,’ delivers an outstanding version of John Legend’s ‘All Of Me.’ Matt McLaren’s act is filled with passion and emotion, and he relies on Stamford, an extraordinarily well-trained seeing-eye dog, to help him navigate his blindness from birth.

Everyone remains silent as Matt and Stamford make their way across the stage to the bright red keyboard. They arrive, and one lone viewer cheers as Matt orders Stamford to lie down. Kelly Osbourne invites him to tell us anything about himself. He informs her that playing the keys is the only thing he believes he is good at and that nothing else seems to matter. The judges all have a little apprehensive expression on their faces until he plays the first few notes and says, “What would I do without your smart mouth?”

Suddenly, everyone smiles, and you can practically hear the crowd exhaling in relief. However, Matt does not stop there; each verse improves on the previous one. He doesn’t miss a single note on the keyboard. Sophia Monk and other members of the audience (including myself) burst into tears quickly. At the conclusion, everyone stands up, and he can clearly sense their affection.

Kelly tells him through tears that not a single person in the house is dry-eyed. Eddie Perfect asks if he knows where all the keys are due to muscle memory, and Matt responds, “Yes, I know where every single note is on this thing.” Kelly tells him he filled the room with love, and Ian Dickson says he might go on to win the entire tournament.
