A song for the ages: Andrea Bocelli sings at the wedding of Céline Dion’s son in Montreal’s Notre-Dame Basilica

On a bright autumn afternoon, October 12, 2024, world-renowned tenor Andrea Bocelli stood beneath the soaring arches of Notre-Dame Basilica in Montreal, feeling as if paradise had touched earth. René-Charles Angélil, the oldest son of music queen Céline Dion, married in the same place where her voice first became renowned.

Bocelli, a lifelong friend of the Dions, described the invitation as “a sacred honor” and opted to perform “The Prayer”—the exact song he had sung with Céline, now delivered as a benediction for the following generation. As his voice echoed through the cathedral’s centuries-old nave, the stained-glass windows appeared to sparkle, pouring calm shafts of color over the bride’s gown and René-Charles’ sorrowful grin.
