12 People Whose Brave Actions Deserve a Movie

Sometimes people act in ways that seem like they belong in a movie because they are so brave, generous, or surprising. These aren’t stories of celebrities or big crowds; rather, they are about regular people taking tough choices, quietly stepping up, or making a difference in someone’s life when it mattered most. We chose a few real-life instances where someone’s actions were so memorable that they stuck in their mind forever.

Story 1: A woman pressed a sanitary pad into my hand while I was with my boyfriend. You need this, she said. I checked in the bathroom to make sure I wasn’t on my period. There was a strange feeling. Two words appeared in shaky red ink and frantic writing when I opened the pad: “Google him.”

I didn’t understand at first. My boyfriend, with whom I had only been dating for two weeks, was the only person present. However, my curiosity overcame me. With little expectation, I pulled out my phone and looked up his name. I was astounded by what I discovered.My boyfriend is actually well-known on TikTok, it turns out. His videos become very popular. He goes on a month-long “experiment” in which he dates or befriends people before posting about it online as a sort of social project.

My entire world fell apart. I realized I was only happy for his next post, even though I had thought I had finally found the one. Without a word, I dropped him off at the airport.
I sincerely thank that stranger, even though I never saw her again. She rescued me before I plummeted further.

Story 2: Having recently moved to New York City alone at the age of 18, I was attempting to fit in with the local way of life after moving from a small Southern town. I had never taken the train before, and I didn’t know how to purchase a MetroCard.

There is a line of people attempting to purchase a card behind me as I stand at the only operational machine. I knew there were people waiting, so I was a little panicked. People in the line began shouting, “Hurry up!” at me. My eyes began to well up with tears, which exacerbated my panic.

Then, this guy told everyone to relax after stepping out of the line. He arrived, walked me through the process step-by-step, and bought me a 12-ride card. “The next time someone yells at you, yell back, and they’ll leave you alone,” he said, giving me a pat on the back.

I didn’t feel so alone at the time. I doubt I would have stayed up there and had all the wonderful experiences I did if it weren’t for his generosity and advice. © Reddit/Wiffle_Sn***

Narrative 3:
Story 4: During the middle of my probation, I missed three consecutive days of class. I believed I was going to lose my job. I was unaware that my coworker Jake had vouched for me working late hours off the books and told HR that I was assisting him with a “family emergency.” He simply knew I was having trouble adjusting to life after a breakup, so it wasn’t true.
HR ignored it. Six months later, I received a promotion. It wasn’t until years after we both quit the company that he brought it up.

Story 5: In the middle of the road, I was experiencing a full-blown panic attack. I hadn’t told anyone that I had recently lost my job. Suddenly, a woman approached me, took hold of my hand, and exclaimed, “There you are! I have been trying to find you.

“You okay?” she whispered, continuing to hold my hand. After leading me outside, she sat with me until I was able to breathe again. “Once happened to me,” she continued. “Pay it forward” and walked away. She was never seen by me again.

Narrative 6:

Story 7: When my son was a baby, my first wife left us. It was difficult, but I made it through.
I was having dinner with some friends one evening. There was no table in the men’s room, so I had to change the baby. When I asked a woman leaving the women’s restroom if it was empty, she looked it over and gave me the all-clear. She approached me and offered to change him while I was organizing my diaper bag.

She put her arm around me and insisted even after I told her I had it. She clearly could see that I had been suppressing a breakdown the entire time. As a complete stranger changed my baby boy, I sobbed for a minute, thanked her profusely, and returned to dinner with my friends with a little less burden on my shoulders. © Reddit/PrintError

Story 8: I discovered there was only one seat available on the overbooked flight when I was returning home from Basic Training to spend Christmas with my family. In front of me, a couple was arguing over who should take it.

“You should take it; it’s your family,” the man said. I’ll take a flight later. The woman then turned to face me and inquired about my destination. I said I was returning home to visit my family and my pregnant wife. Then she instructed the woman behind the counter to give me the last seat.

Narrative 9:
Story 10: I totally collapsed during my senior year after my mom suffered a stroke. missed a semester and a half. I was prepared to leave.

My thesis advisor summoned me to his office one day and gave me a binder. He claimed that we had been working on a “joint project,” but I hadn’t contributed to it.
He conducted the research, wrote the majority of it, and omitted the final few pages. He said, “Just fill this in.” “They’ll go by you.”

I completed my degree on schedule. I still cry when I talk about it.

Narrative 11:

Story 12: My parents dropped me off at the mall to meet up with my girlfriend when I was fifteen or sixteen years old. After a brief argument, she abruptly left me, running straight into the arms of a man she knew—in front of me.

I was so distraught that I called my parents at least thirty times without getting a response. A child in the grade above me approached me as I was ready to begin the eight-mile walk home and inquired about my condition. He made me feel as though my life had not ended and drove me home.
