He said, “It had to be a very military look,” as he outfitted Howard in a way reminiscent of the military, down to the jump boots. I said that it was the exact same appearance I had in when people questioned where I got the concept for his look in the army.
Sikking was caught off guard by “Hill Street Blues’” unexpected success. The programme, which received numerous Emmy nominations, ended up winning the most prizes that year. Sikking said, “I’ve been an actor for 50 years, and when I look back at the show, I think it was the best show I was ever on,” as he thought back on this accomplishment.
Sikking was a dedicated family man whose influence went beyond the screen. After getting married in 1962, he had a spectacular 61-year marriage with Florine. They loved raising four grandchildren and two children together. Although James B. Sikking’s death leaves a vacuum in the entertainment business, future generations will be inspired by his skill, commitment, and iconic roles.
