A 32-year-old woman dated her 39-year-old boyfriend, who had two young children, for nine months when they had a massive argument. The woman turned to Reddit for advice after her boyfriend repeatedly “forgot” his wallet during restaurant outings, forcing her to pay for everyone.
She was particularly concerned about how she acted in front of his children. The woman shared that her boyfriend’s kids loved eating out, so they went to restaurants weekly. However, every time they went out, he conveniently forgot his card. Initially, it didn’t bother her, but she was left broke after covering multiple meals in the previous month.
One night, after receiving payment from her second part-time job, she and her boyfriend planned to dine out with his children again. Knowing his habit of “forgetting” his wallet, she texted him a reminder. He laughed it off. When they arrived, his children ordered many pricey items.
Before eating, she asked if he had his wallet. He appeared shocked, patted his pockets, and said, “Guess I forgot it in the other pair of jeans.” Fed up, the woman grabbed her things and prepared to leave without eating.
Her boyfriend demanded to know what she was doing. She told him she wouldn’t pay for him and his children again and walked out. Later, he called her selfish for leaving them in that situation. She responded that she wouldn’t always pay because it wasn’t fair.
He yelled that she had shown no sympathy for him and his children, had to cancel their food order, and took his children home hungry. They argued, and he said he would reconsider their relationship due to her selfishness and how she treated his children.
